Mapu považujeme za zmenšený, generalizovaný obraz územia, či teritória prevedený do roviny pomocou určitým spôsobom definovaných vzťahov, ktorý podľa *zvolených hľadísk zobrazuje polohu, stav a vzťahy objektov a javov.

Fotografický súbor “osobné územia” je takouto (*alebo podobnou) mapou. Na rozdiel od kartograficky zmenšeného obrazu skutočnosti tu neprebehlo generalizovanie (vylúčenie nepodstatných skutočností a podrobností) zobrazenia reality, ale skôr manipulatívna koncentrácia na jeden, alebo viac atribútov (stôp zásahu) dokumentovaného teritória. Stopy zásahov vytvorených človekom zmenia charakter, vzťahy, alebo povahu krajiny tak, že sa stanú hlavným významovým hľadiskom tohto prenosu. Osobné územia sú mapami teritórií ľudských záujmov. Spôsob nazerania na obraz je tak viac čítaním máp ako insiderskou prechádzkou. Význam vystupuje skôr z kontextu ako zo zážitku. “Osobné územia” sú mapami oblastí záujmu, do ktorých človek zasiahol tak, aby sa vymedzil voči svetu a iným bytostiam svojho (a prípadne aj iného) druhu.
Eduard Kudláč (1972) – režisér, vyštudoval divadelnú réžiu na Vysokej škole múzických umení v Bratislave. Svoje zameranie na hľadanie nových možností divadla cez pohyb a akciu rozvinul vo vlastnom združení phenomenontheatre, ktoré založil v roku 2000 ako nezávislú platformu pre súčasné divadlo. Intímnou formou myslenia sa pre neho v poslednom čase stala fotografia. Najosobnejšie témy realizuje práve cez ňu, mimo územia kamennej inštitúcie, jazyk však zostáva napriek rôznorodosti médií minimalisticky príznačný.

Eduard Kudláč: Personal regions
When someone says map, we think of a downsized, generalized picture of an area or a region that is transferred into two dimensions using predefined sets of rules and based on the chosen rules, it depicts the state, location and relationship between objects and events. A photographic collection ’’Personal regions’’ is this type of map (*sort of). Unlike with the cartographically downsized picture of the reality, generalization of the depiction of reality did not take place here (the exclusion of unimportant details that is). Instead, a controlled concentration on one or more attributes (traces of tampering) of the documented region took place. The traces of tampering created by human activity change the character, relations or the face of the country in a manner, where they become the most important aspect of this two dimensional transfer. Personal regions is a collection of maps depicting the territories or regions of human interest. The way we perceive a picture is more similar to the way we look a map than it is to the walkthrough of an insider. The meaning can be understood based on context, not experience. ’’Personal regions’’ are maps of interest affected by humans in a manner that separates and makes them stand out from the rest of the world and other species of the same kind (even other species).
Eduard Kudláč (1972) – director, studied theater directing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. In the Phenomenontheatre, which he established in the year 2000 as an independent platform of contemporary theater, he continues to explore and search for new possibilities of expression via movement and action. He has been the head of The Žilina City Theatre since the year 2009 and he profiles the theater as one with courageous dramaturgy, mainly focused on the contemporary texts. He collaborates with other theatres both in Slovakia and Czech Republic. Photography has recently become intimate form of thinking for him. That is why he carries out his most personal themes in this manner, outside of the area of the institutions, yet the language remains minimalistic and specific despite the wide spectrum of media.
