In the competition for the prize of Oskar Čepan there are four finalists. It is the 19th vol. prize this year for visual artists aged up to 35 years. The names of the four finalists are: Jana Kapelova, Jaroslav Kyša, Martin Kochan a Matěj Smetana. There were chosen by international panel (Áron Fenyvesi – HU, Piotr Stasiowski -PL, Jiří Ptáček -CZ, Michal Murin -SK a Mira Keratová -SK) from 40 registered participants. The winner will be named during their shared installation in Nova synagóga Žilina in October 2014.
Their shared art installation will be from 16th of October until 16th of November in Nova synagóga and the winner will be announced on 24th of October in Stanica Žilina-Záriečie. The winner will get a 6-week residency stay at International Studio & Curatorial Program in New York, financial prize of 2.600 € and an opportunity to have own installation in an recognized art institution.
The Oskár Čepan prize is a part of an prestige international competitions network YVAA – Young Visual Artists Awards in Eastern Europe and in Slovakia it is organized by Nadácia – Centrum súčasného umenia. It was established in 1996 by Wendy W. Luers, the founder of an American Open Society Foundation.
This cultural event is moved to Žilina where joint installation of the four finalists will be presented and it will be complemented by an attractive program.
