Surprise from Israel

Few days ago Ben Buchenbacher from Tel Aviv stopped by. He came together with his wife and a few months old son. His wife was recently doing a dance performance in Czech Republic. Ben came to Zilina because he found out about the Behren’s synagogue reconstruction. In Israel his profession is to do with archeological research when historic buildings are being renovated. He was amazed about the old building and is keen on helping us with searching for information connected to the old synagogue.

We have lack of detailed information about the original building and photos of the interior are still missing. The big unknown is the original eastern part of the building interior. Future steps in research for the original Behren’s architecture will lead us therefore to Israel. New information or historical photographs of the site would be a pleasant surprise. According to Ben in Israel there are high quality historic archives. But without understanding Hebrew there is not much we can do. We are therefore very happy that Ben offered himself to help out. He will do this voluntary and free of charge. Big thank you!
